The Passing of Our Brother, Val

In Celebration of

Val "Valentyn" Polakiwsky

May 23, 1934 -  March 8, 2017

Went to be with his Lord! Val Polakiwsky, God’s servant passed away peacefully in the presence of God to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Husband to his beloved wife Valentyna, a constant to his adoring sons Yuri and Marko and dotting “Dido” to his favourite grandson Terrance (Tarasyk). He was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, 1934. He was a fiery volleyball player, skier and tennis player, a designer for Ontario Transport Systems. A singer of the gospel, faithful churchman and BLCF Cafe Community  Dinner volunteer. A great soccer fan. He will be remembered as a joyous investor of the Kingdom of God. Inspired by Christ’s love he supported orphans, provided a cup of water for the thirsty, supporting God’s work throughout the world in hope of seeing God’s justice be done. As always, who in his last final days would say, “remember it’s the small things.” His greatest desire was that everyone would come to know Jesus Christ on a personal level. To have known him, would have been to experience God’s love.

Visitation - Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of Jane subway on Friday from 5-9 p.m.

Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment York Cemetery.

His wish that in lieu of flowers donations could be made to his beloved “Father’s House”, a refuge for orphans and forgotten children in Kyiv, Ukraine. (For more information, contact Turner and Porter - see link, below).

The Coming of the Lord

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 15 For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.              1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (ESV)

Val
